Frequently Asked Questions

Q.   How do I care for my jewelry?

A.  

1.   Store your jewelry in plastic bags to help keep it from tarnishing.   A jewelry polishing cloth will be included in your order,     just follow the simple instructions to clean the tarnish off.

2.   Do not wear your jewelry while showering, bathing or swimming in water.   Take amber, pearl and marcasite rings off when washing hands.   Chemicals in the water can cause it to tarnish faster.

3.   Take caution not to drop your jewelry on hard surfaces.   Our advice is to stand over a carpeted floor while putting it on and taking it off as most stones and pearls are breakable.

4.   Keep chemicals away from amber, pearls and opals.   Spray hairspray or perfume before you put on your jewelry.   Don't wear rings or bracelets while using chemicals or cleaners.

5.   For very tarnished jewelry we do not recommend liquid silver cleaner found in stores.   This will ruin pearls and some other gemstones.   We have found a cleaner that is safe to use on pearls and other delicate stones.   The company is Jo-Le.   They are located in Everett, Washington and can be reached by calling 425-530-2346.   

Q. What length is best for my necklace and bracelet?

A.   

  1. You can measure a necklace or bracelet that fits you well. A larger, thicker piece will need to be longer then a thinner more delicate one. Many pieces will have a 2" adjustable extension on it.

  2. Necklace lengths:

•  12" to 14" Choker fit, it fits tight to the neck.

•  15" will lay at the base of the neck

•  16" is the usual short length. It will lay 1" to 2" below the hollow of the throat.

•  18" is the usual medium length. It will lay about 3" to 4" below the base of the throat.

•  20", 22", 24" etc will lay on the chest accordingly.

     Bracelets

•  Usual bracelet lengths are 7" to 7.5".

•  Larger bracelet lengths are 8" to 8.5" which are for a larger women's wrist or a man's wrist.

Q. What if I need the jewelry adjusted to fit me?

A. On many pieces we can shorten or lengthen it. We can also change clasps. On earrings some styles can be changed to clips, posts or ear wires.   Our normal service charge is $20 for minor adjustments. Please email us with any questions on a particular piece

Q. What about special orders?

A. You can email us the design you want and we will let you know if we can make it for you.

Many of our pieces come in different colors, just send us an email to ask if we have it.

Special orders are final sale only.

Q.   What if my order is a gift?

A .   We will put your order in a gift box.   If it is a gift, please indicate that at checkout in the Ordering Instructions box.

Q.   What is your Shipping Policy?

A.   Orders of $250 or more will be shipped for free. We ship UPS.   Your options are:   UPS Next Day Air, 2 nd Day Air, 3 Day Select and Ground (free on orders of $250 or more).   If your order is received before 2:00PM Pacific Standard Time (PST) Monday - Thursday it will be shipped the next day.   Any orders received after 2:00PM on Friday will be shipped the following Monday.

We cannot guarantee that any order placed after December 17th will arrive in time for Christmas, but we will try.

Shipping cost along with insurance cost will be calculated at checkout.

Q.   What is your return policy?

A.   Here at Jewelry to Your Doorstep we want you to be satisfied with your jewelry purchase.   We would also like to make sure you are aware of the naturally occurring differences in the amber, gems and pearls that make each piece special and desirable.

If you are unsatisfied with your purchase within 30 days, you may return any item ( Except Special Orders and Sale Items ).   If you would like to return an item it must be in its original, unworn condition.   Refund will be issued when we receive the item in its original condition.   When returning an item please use original shipping box with padding inside and insure for the full value.

Q. What is Your Return Policy on Special Orders and Sale Items?

A.   Special Orders, which includes alterations, and Sale Items are Final Sales.   Because we are making it just for you, it won't be returnable.   Make sure it is what you want before you order.
